about

The tragic murder of George Floyd rightfully sparked national outrage and protest. It took me out of a space to make music and took me to protest and gatherings throughout Los Angeles. The countless videos and stories that continue to surface have been hard for me to stomach. The reality is that this fight didn’t start back in May and won’t end until changes are made to policing, cops are held accountable, people stop looking for excuses and the deeply rooted oppression and mistreatment of ALL black folk is addressed and remedied. Music has always been an emotional release for me and making this song has only further reinforced the importance of continuing this fight.

All proceeds from this song will be split and donated to:

lyrics

20/20 vision's on my brain
2020 looking insane
I got twenty twenty nightmares on my mental
2020 ain't gon be gentle

I just lit twenty three candles
Gotta thank God I made it this far
They hanging Black folks with the ropes
wearing cloaks like a ghost
but they won't call it murder

How many names we gotta say?
Still fighting for our freedom every day
They will never give it away
Grandma and them tried to pray
How many of us will they slay?
I'm sick of the flower bouquets
Let's get the revolution underway
Bout time we make these mother fuckers pay

20/20 vision's on my brain
2020 looking insane
I got twenty twenty nightmares on my mental
2020 ain't gon be gentle

My feet are sore but I can't rest
We need to arrest to bring progress, to bring justice
Divest in pigs and reinvest
In the oppressed and the silenced

How many names we gotta say?
Still fighting for our freedom every day
They will never give it away
Grandma and them tried to pray
How many of us will they slay?
I'm sick of the flower bouquets
Let's get the revolution underway
Bout time we make these mother fuckers pay
